Since the first quarter of 2021, India has been the hardest hit by the spread and infection of the alpha variant of COVID-19. As of April 26, 2021, India has recorded the fifth consecutive day of the world's highest number of confirmed cases, and the number of serious illnesses and deaths continues to rise, which has led to a run on medical resources in some less developed areas of the country.

In response to the tense situation, Mindray India made a donation to the region to help with the life support equipment purchasing in collaboration with Tata Trust. The equipment effectively relieved the immediate needs of the area - after receiving the equipment, the two hospitals were able to significantly increase their capacity, treating over 600 additional patients with new crowns on top of the original bed limit.
