Liver Care and Gastroenterology Ultrasound Solutions
The expanding role of ultrasound in gastroenterology practice reflects a broader shift toward non-invasive, objective assessment in gastrointestinal (GI) care. Advances in elastography and multi-organ imaging position GI ultrasound systems as capable tools for evaluating a range of conditions within a single clinical session.
Our gastroenterology ultrasound series brings multi-organ imaging in-house, allowing practices and hospitals to potentially minimize referral dependencies, expand their diagnostic services, and generate the reproducible, quantitative data that modern GI care demands.
At Mindray North America, we support this evolution with the Hepatus-Series, comprised of:
Multi-Organ Quantification for Comprehensive GI Assessment
Multi-organ ultrasound for gastroenterology enables gastroenterologists to perform different assessments:
Hepatus 6
Comprehensive abdominal imaging
The Hepatus 6 Ultrasound System features a C5-1s transducer for diagnostic imaging alongside elastography. This dual capability allows clinicians to combine tissue data with broader morphological evaluation in one exam.

Liver Steatosis and Attenuation and Spleen Stiffness
The Hepatus-Series facilitates non-invasive spleen stiffness quantification using transient elastography. Spleen stiffness values are an indirect marker for portal hypertension, helping clinicians evaluate disease severity and progression in patients with chronic liver disease.

Bowel ultrasound capabilities
Bowel ultrasound with the Hepatus 6 supports the evaluation of conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and Crohn's disease.
Advanced Quantification with ViTE Technology
The Hepatus-Series features Visualized Transient Elastography (ViTE) and Liver Stiffness and Attenuation (LiSA), technologies that work together to assess disease severity. ViTE measures tissue stiffness with real-time ultrasound guidance, delivering simultaneous visual confirmation of transducer placement and tissue sampling. LiSA measures hepatic fat content through ultrasound attenuation imaging, enabling steatosis grading within the same exam workflow.
Both technologies enable:
Data Integration for Research and Longitudinal Monitoring

Data integration is a key platform requirement for institutions that participate in clinical trials or research. The Hepatus-Series supports this need through PACS, SFTP, and eGateway integration, allowing data export and archiving compatible with longitudinal disease monitoring protocols.

This connectivity enables clinicians to collect serial measurements such as E values and LiSA values. For institutions engaging in MASLD, MASH, or cirrhosis research, this integration capability can facilitate data workflows that align with study requirements.

Hepatus 6
  • Hepatus 5/6 Platform Overview

Mindray offers the Hepatus-Series in two configurations — Hepatus 5 and 6. These solutions share a common technology foundation while delivering distinct capabilities to suit different workflow and clinical requirements. Discover how they perform in these key segments:

    • Quantitative assessment: ViTE and LiSA technology deliver tissue measurements, allowing clinicians to make an objective assessment of liver fibrosis and steatosis
    • Workflow efficiency: An intuitive full touchscreen interface and barcode scanner simplify exam setup, while the ability to move between quantitative and imaging assessments keeps workflows on track
    • Clinician comfort: An adjustable panel allows clinicians to set the screen to the desired height and angle when sitting or standing. This feature minimizes neck, shoulder, and back strain during long scanning sessions, enabling clinicians to remain comfortable
    Hepatus 5
GI Ultrasound Systems
Hepatus 6 is a comprehensive GI ultrasound system suitable for healthcare facilities and practices seeking a multi-organ ultrasound solution for gastroenterology. It combines elastography, attenuation imaging, spleen assessment, bowel ultrasound, and conventional diagnostic imaging within one platform.
The Hepatus 5 and 6 support healthcare settings prioritizing dedicated liver stiffness and steatosis assessment.
It features ViTE and LiSA, providing the core quantitative capabilities clinicians need for hepatic fibrosis staging and MASLD/MASH evaluation.
