The Beijing Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympic Games are being held in three locations: Beijing, Yanqing, and Zhangjiakou. The exciting ice and snow events spectacle is safeguarded by an accurate, efficient, and collaborative medical support system.

To ensure a system of sound medical care, a number of medical stations are set up in venues in the three locations, with one hospital supporting all the medical stations in one location, to provide on-site medical treatment and triage of sick and injured athletes, transferring them to specialist clinics if necessary. Winter Olympic Village Comprehensive Clinics are also built in these three locations. In Beijing and Yanqing for example, they provide services that cover 18 disciplines and meet the daily 16 hours of basic outpatient and 24-hour emergency treatment needs. Each designated hospital outside the Village adopts a treatment-based classification (TBC) approach to avoid overlapping groups of patients with different risks, and select medical specialists to provide timely and efficient medical services for the Winter Olympics.

“We have prepared well in advance at various locations such as competition venues, designated hotels, and transportation hubs so as to actively challenge this medical security task with sufficient force. ”
