February 3 was the day before the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics. In the afternoon, the torch relay arrived in Chongli Fulong, Ski Resort, Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province. The Olympic flame was particularly eye-catching surrounded by a blanket of ice and snow. Meanwhile, 6 kilometers away at Chongli Campus, Peking University Third Hospital (hereinafter referred to as Chongli Campus), two Mindray service engineers, Zhao Ziwei and Zhen Wei, were inspecting the equipment as usual.
Ten days later, the "unparalleled" Beijing Winter Olympics came to a grand finale, but that wasn't the end of our story. Recently, Mindray received a letter of thanks from Chongli Campus. In the letter, Chongli Campus praised Mindray for "providing strong support for our medical care mission for the ice and snow sports." Mindray's professionalism and commitment were once again highly recognized by our medical peers.

As early as Jan. 20, Zhao and Zhen said goodbye to their colleagues and families and traveled to Chongli. Throughout the Olympics, they provided 24/7 service for the Chongli Campus and Winter Olympic Village Comprehensive Clinics in Zhangjiakou to ensure all Mindray devices functioned normally.
The Emergency Trauma Hall, Anesthesiology Department, and Clinical Laboratory of Chongli Campus were the key departments for the event's medical security. They communicated with the heads of the departments every day, to check on equipment usage scenarios and answer questions on operating and disinfecting equipment.
Over a period of more than 60 days, their meticulous working style once again showcased Mindray's high standard of services. Zhao said they immediately arranged a detailed training on disinfecting and maintaining the anesthesia machine after receiving questions from the director of the anesthesiology department. The next day, they worked out a sound solution for disinfecting equipment in the supply room based on an on-site analysis. Thereafter, they also provided remote guidance on disinfection details after using the anesthesia machine, to ensure it was prepared both before and after use.
This is a special Spring Festival for Zhao and Zhen, who selflessly sacrificed time with their families, but gained unique memories of the Winter Olympics in Zhangjiakou. "Sacrificing home for our great nation as part of the security personnel was a great honor." Zhao describes the experience.
"We are not present but always online"
On February 4, 2022, Beijing, the first 'Dual Olympic City' in the world was celebrating the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics and also the Beginning of Spring, the first of China's 24 solar terms.
Zhao Qiang and Hou Yuefeng were watching the fantastic event at their homes, but checked their WeChat contacts from time to time. As the clinical application leaders and service engineers for Mindray devices in the Comprehensive Clinics in Beijing and Yanqing, like other colleagues in their work group, it has long been their habit to promptly respond to messages from medical and nursing staff in the group chat. In line with pandemic prevention and control regulations, the Mindray service team in charge of Beijing and Yanqing did not need to be stationed at the Comprehensive Clinics of the Winter Olympic Village. Nevertheless, in order to provide better support for healthcare professionals in a timely manner, Mindray established an efficient and cooperative online team to connect service engineers, clinical application engineers, and customer managers.
This online team has a clear division of work. Zhao is responsible for answering questions on clinical applications, while Hou and other service engineers are responsible for making sure the hardware works correctly.
"Before the competition, we systematically debugged the equipment and also ran detailed training for the medical staff. However, during formal use there will be some details that need to be answered due to different operating habits and familiarity with the equipment. When a question is raised by a medical worker in the group chat, our colleagues in charge of these issues will immediately provide an answer a via text, voice, or video. " Zhao described their working style.
When asked how it felt to participate in the Winter Olympics guarantee mission online, Hou said, "Although we were not on site after the opening ceremony, we guided the entire installation process for the equipment. We are always online to meet any needs of medical staff. I am proud of myself and my company for being involved in this way in a national event like the Winter Olympics."
"We are pursuing perfection during every step."
In the context of the pandemic, Mindray customized its service guarantee plans according to the spread-out venues and the great need for medical support for ice sports.
For the three major locations, special service guarantee teams were set up to provide on-site and remote services and 24-hour response 7 days a week. The closed-loop management of resident staff was to ensure compliance with pandemic prevention and control and the Winter Olympics guarantee requirements, and the backup guarantee teams were also formed the Green Channel for spare parts was opened to guarantee spare parts supply as far as possible.

In early 2020, Mindray engineers started to install the equipment in batches for the event. In November and December 2021, the test event was the first test for Mindray team. In late 2021, before the opening of the Winter Olympic Village, training on the medical equipment was held in the Comprehensive Clinics. On the eve of the opening ceremony, all Mindray medical personnel in Beijing, Yanqing, and Zhangjiakou were in place.
Mindray is honored to support the designated hospitals and Comprehensive Clinics during this national event, and will continue to pursue its goal of "providing professional services and comprehensive products with leading-edge technology." The Smart Connect technology from three Mindray key product lines supported the whole process of the competition. The whole range of products was stationed in the three competition locations to support the ice and snow events. Special service guarantee team were set up with a customized service guarantee program.
As of today, Mindray staff are still working on the event, and they will continue to stay at their posts until the mission is successfully completed.
