Insulin testing may be used to help diagnose the cause of diabetes and identify insulin resistance, monitor the amount of insulin produced by the beta cells in the pancreas (endogenous), and determine when a type 2 diabetic might need to inject insulin.

C-Peptide can reflect endogenous insulin production, because it is secreted in 1:1 molar ratio to insulin. It can be used to distinguish type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Both C-peptide and insulin can be tested on Mindray chemiluminescence analyzer CL-1000i which utilizes the enhanced enzymatic chemiluminescence method ALP+AMPPD. Mindray insulin(CLIA) reagent is standardized against WHO International Standard Insulin 66/304; while C-peptide(CLIA) reagent against WHO International Standard C-Peptide 84/510. Both parameters can provide reliable results with CV less than 4%.

CL-1000i is a robust analyzer with a throughput of up to 120 tests per hour, 24 onboard tests, 6 sample racks automatic loading. The software is easy to use and the performance is guaranteed. Up to date 50 parameters are available, covering thyroid, fertility, tumor marker, diabetes, cardiac marker, metabolic marker, and hormone, with a lot more coming out in 2017.
