One Person's Action Warms up the Whole City
An unusual donation ceremony was being held at the Suzhou Grand Theater in Suzhou city, Anhui province in the evening of December 15. At the donation ceremony, hosted jointly by Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and the municipal government, Chairman Li Xiting of Mindray, was donating 20 million RMB to the poverty alleviation authority in Suzhou, and 10 million RMB to tourism authority in Dangshan County. Mr. Li wanted to express his gratitude to the hometown and the Party in this way. His donation was accepted by Jun Yang, the Mayor of Suzhou, on behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and the municipal government. The ceremony was also attended by Jian Lv, vice Mayor, and Weili Han, municipal government secretary.
Dangshan County in Suzhou is the hometown of Li Xiting. Over the years, he always bears his hometown in mind, and pays attention to the economic and educational development in the area. He returned to his hometown many times to donate money and materials to support poverty alleviation charities. During interview, Li Xiting said that, "In recent years, under leadership of the municipal party committee and the municipal government, such great changes happened in my hometown to make me very proud as Suzhou people. As an old Chinese saying goes When drinking water, one should not forget its source. Thanks to my hometown and the Party, I become what I am today."
On the morning of December 16, the government of Dangshan county held an agreement-signing ceremony for the cultural and tourism industry development fund donation. In his speech, Guangmin Wang, secretary of the Dangshan County Committee, spoke highly of Mr. Li's success. Moreover, Mr. Li's affection for his hometown was so strong, that's why he often donated to the development of Dangshan county.
Guangmin Wang mentioned that Dangshan was in the early stages of development with many obstacles to overcome. Mr. Li, he continued, was an extremely generous supporter of Dangshan who highly recognized Dangshan's development path. On this occasion, he dedicated 10 million RMB to the development of Dangshan's cultural and tourism industry, a clear indicator of his determination to make a change in the county. “With his support and encouragement, we must insist the current development path. Also, we need to make good use of the funds by applying it to the development of Dangshan in an appropriate way.”
"I left Dangshan at the age of 18. In about half a century, I have been paying attention to every change in my hometown, and hope to do something for my hometown. I'd like to watch it going more and more beautiful." said Li Xiting.
