The super cyclone Amphan ravaged large parts of eastern India in May 2020 and left a trail of devastation on properties, infrastructure and human lives. The coastal districts of West Bengal were amongst the worst-hit areas, with thousands of displaced people waiting for relief.

Shortly after, Mindray India has pledged humanitarian support to 300 rural families from East Medinipur and South 24 Paraganas in West Bengal. In addition, the company has allocated financial aid to Sabuj Sangha, a local organization in West Bengal, for procurement and distribution of food kits and shelter materials.

Mindray India has provided a relief package comprising soaps for public hygiene as well as tarpaulin cloth and ropes for temporary sheltering. In addition, villagers have received food kits donated by Mindray that consist of dry ration items like rice, pulses, sugar, and biscuits as well as cooking essentials like mustard oil, turmeric powder, and salt. All these supplies will go 10-15 days in a row to ensure stable livelihood for these displaced families.

The financial support provided by Mindray has mitigated people’s hardship, particularly against the backdrop of the ongoing pandemic. Most of these families comprise daily wage earners and newly-arrived migrants, and ensuring that they do not go hungry is key to helping them in rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of cyclone Amphan.

Despite traffic lockdown during the COVID-19 and all other difficulties, Mindray India has acted quickly in response to the disaster and helped to ensure that these vulnerable and unfortunate families can timely get the urgently needed supplies. To become a trusted all-weather partner in building a healthier Bharat, Mindray duly recognizes and fulfills its social responsibilities, more so in adverse times.
