The globe is threatened by the growing pandemic
As COVID-19 spreads, the focus of global prevention and control is shifting from the east to the west. As of March 11, 21:00, the cumulative number of confirmed cases outside China has reached 40,684, and the cumulative number of deaths has risen to 1,219. According to the WHO, the threat of COVID-19 evolving into a global pandemic has become a “reality”, which indicates an escalation in its severity as well as the difficulty of fighting it.

At such a critical moment, Mindray took the initiative, and began cooperating with the China Critical Ultrasound Study Group (CCUSG) to launch a series of live conferences for global front line medical workers as quickly as possible to share China's experiences in fighting the pandemic online and to come together to tackle this global challenge.
From 20:30 to 22:00 yesterday evening (March 11), Mindray invited Professor Xiaoting Wang, Director of ShuaiFu ICU, Deputy Director of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Professor Yangong Chao, Director of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at The First Affiliated Hospital of Tsinghua University, and Associate Professor Ran Zhu, Director of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at The First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, who have been fighting the pandemic on the front line, to share with more than 10,000 experts from more than 100 countries (including Italy, Korea, France, Germany, etc., which are most affected by the pandemic) on the topic of critical care ultrasound and respiratory management, and the treatment of COVID-19. It is hoped that this livestream based on China's experiences in fighting the pandemic could be a useful reference for the rest of the world.
During the livestream, these three experts gave detailed explanations on which respiratory treatment strategies should be adopted for COVID-19 patients, something which concerns doctors worldwide. This included the core management of hypoxia, autonomic breathing, mechanical ventilation, ECMO and critical organ injury, the application of critical care ultrasound in guiding the circulation and ventilation management of COVID-19 patients, and how frontline medical staff should prevent nosocomial infections.
