The Fifth Joint Meeting on Guangdong-Guangxi Anti-Poverty Cooperation was convened on June 11th. As one of the attendees, Mindray has donated medical equipment worth 100 million RMB, contributing to the poverty alleviation campaign in Hechi and Baise, two poverty-stricken cities in Guangxi. Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region presented Mindray a commemorative certificate in return for pitching in the anti-poverty effort.
The meeting was chaired by Lu Xinshe, secretary of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee. Li Xi, secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, addressed the meeting, in which he thanked Guangxi on behalf of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, for Guanxing’s consistent and staunch support to its neighbor. Ma Xingrui, deputy secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Governor of Guangdong Province, and Chen Wu, Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, also attended the meeting.
In September 2016, Shenzhen has paired up with Baise and Hechi in this anti-poverty program. Located in China’s southwest border, Baise and Hechi are blessed with picturesque scenery and appealing national customs. However, as of today, 6 counties, 326 villages, 27,100 family households, and 93,084 people in the two cities are still living under the poverty line.
In rural areas, many residents have been in poverty or sink back to poverty due to illnesses. Mindray spots this headache and offers remedies upon the pairing-up anti-poverty program. We have mobilized our products to meet the medical equipment demand reported by medical institutions in Baise and Hechi. Specifically, 359 medical devices worth 102.513 million RMB were donated to these two cities.
Cheng Minghe, president of Mindray, has expressed that Mindray has long been devoted to building medical infrastructure in underdeveloped poor areas, and conducting charitable clinics with medical training for broader coverage of high-quality medical service. In this way, we introduce world-leading medical equipment to people living in impoverished regions.
Baise and Hechi are just two examples for Mindray’s nationwide effort to provide broader accessibility of medical care in every corner of China.
To the south, Mindray has engaged in Hainan’s Rural-Area Poverty Alleviation Program initiated by the “Li Ka Shing Foundation” to build stronger health care capacity in the island; to the west, Mindray has provided portable ultrasound scanner to various expert teams for the screening of congenital heart disease in Tibet; in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, our medical devices have been adopted all the way to Kashgar, the western border of China; to the northwest, Mindray has conducted training on the use of ultrasound systems together with health authorities of Gansu, Qinghai and Ningxia so as to improve ultrasound diagnosis skills among doctors working at the grassroots level. Overseas, Mindray also takes the initiative to engage with non-profit medical institutions to donate medical equipment, provide medical training, support charitable clinics, and offer medical assistance worldwide.
Apart from medical support, Mindray has also made consistent contribution to China’s education and poverty alleviation undertakings. Our company makes donations to build Hope Primary Schools and libraries, set up education funds and scholarships, and establish poverty alleviation funds.
As a leading enterprise in the medical sector, Mindray takes its due social responsibility to confront catastrophes. After the sudden attack of an earthquake in the city of Yushu, Qinghai Province, Mindray once again demonstrated its morale established in 2008 Sichuan earthquake and donated medical equipment at the earliest possible time. In face of major public health emergencies, Mindray has never flinched from shouldering the responsibility by leveraging our expertise.
In recent years, Mindray has been committed to building the emergency medical aid systems in various cities. Up to now, we have donated more than 2,000 automatic external defibrillators (AED) and training equipment to the Red Cross, schools, tourist attractions, airports, train stations and others that are in need. We have also held various events for promoting first-aid awareness and basic rescuing skills among the public. In 2018 and 2019, Mindray’s AED products have saved 26 patients in Shenzhen metro stations, Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, Nanjing Lukou International Airport, Tsinghua University and other public places.
During the onslaught of COVID-19, Mindray, as a domestic medical enterprise, has served as a strong force for supplying China’s self-developed medical equipment. As of mid-May 2020, our company has delivered over 100,000 medical equipment across the whole country.
Going forward, Mindray will continue to engage in poverty reduction across China so as to implement our due social responsibility to improve China’s health care services. We have set sails high in this anti-poverty endeavor and are determined to make even greater contribution to this undertaking.
