Editor's Note: "Ultrasound is an operator-dependent technique. Acquiring and interpreting images requires extensive training, regardless of the equipment used" – WFUMB Safety Statement on Medical Ultrasound. This underscores the importance of standardized, advanced ultrasound education in improving ultrasound skills and clinical proficiency.

To advance ultrasound education, Mindray launched “Project 2025” in 2023, where we work with global medical institutions to build over 50 ultrasound training centers and schools that has benefited 10,000 medical students and doctors by 2025.

As Project 2025 nears completion, we have reviewed Mindray’s contributions to ultrasound education, which are summarized as follows:

Making Cutting-edge Ultrasound Knowledge Widely Accessible

Prof. Lynne Rudd, WFUMB Administrative Manager

Ultrasound education is crucial for advancing medicine. I am impressed with Mindray's dedication to Project 2025, especially in the educational domain. I look forward to our continued collaboration.

Mrs. Lynne Rudd

Administrative Manager of WFUMB

Mindray has a long partnership with the WFUMB. Through the WFUMB’s Centers of Excellence (CoE) initiative, Mindray has teamed up with global specialists to deliver seminars, master classes, and workshops in countries like China, Mongolia, Kenya, and Romania.

  • Together with the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Mindray has spearheaded the prestigious CoE China m-Elite International Training Program. The program has gained considerable recognition from the global ultrasound community for its diversity and top-notch quality.
  • In 2024, Mindray hosted an oncology master class at the WFUMB Mongolia CoE workshop, attracting hundreds of attendees.
  • Mindray partnered with the Kenya Society of Ultrasound and Biology (KESUMB) and the WFUMB CoE at Aga Khan University Hospital to host a "Vascular Ultrasound" workshop, drawing over 80 participants daily.

Mindray has also established a strong partnership with the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG), leading to the creation of the Mindray ISUOG Ambassador Summit, an ISUOG-approved academic program. The forum has been hosted in countries such as Turkey, bringing together numerous ISUOG Ambassadors from around the world. It focuses on cutting-edge medicine and ultrasound practice, delivering lectures and live scanning demonstrations that provide new insights into medical technology innovation and clinical decision-making.

Mindray has been supporting the ISUOG Outreach Program, which delivers OB/GYN ultrasound training to over 500 sonographers in countries including Uganda, Myanmar, Sudan, Somalia, Egypt, and Kyrgyzstan.

Expanding Access to Basic Training

We have founded M-Ultrasound schools with top university hospitals worldwide to make basic ultrasound training accessible to even more healthcare professionals. Mindray's M-Ultrasound School is an ultrasound training center established through a partnership with a local university hospital. Dedicated to providing long-term, standardized, and systematic education, it serves doctors and medical practitioners seeking expertise in ultrasound technology.

By 2025, Mindray has established 68 ultrasound schools worldwide.

  • In Egypt, Mindray has helped establish over 15 ultrasound schools nationwide, training more than 2,000 medical students and nearly 1,000 OB/GYN specialists.
  • In the US, Mindray has partnered with Weatherford College, a leading sonography school in Texas, to offer a sonographer training program since 2017. The program holds accreditations in OB/GYN, Abdominal, and Vascular sonography.
  • In Australia, Mindray works with the Adelaide Health Simulation Centre to deliver comprehensive ultrasound training to nearly 1,000 healthcare professionals and medical students using the TEX20 Ultrasound Simulation Training System.
  • In Southeast Asia, such as in Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia, Mindray partnered with local institutions to launch 14 ultrasound schools, focusing on clinical practices like obstetrics, musculoskeletal, and urology, training thousands of young clinicians and boosting ultrasound education.

Standardized Education for Greater Empowerment

A standardized ultrasound training system is fundamental to elevating clinical decision-making capabilities. Since 2018, the Chinese Ultrasound Doctors Association (CUDA) and Mindray have co-hosted the "Fang Yuan Dao · Gui Pei Xing" National Train-the-Trainer Program for Ultrasound Residency Faculty. It aims to improve the faculty’s proficiency in ultrasound residency programs and enhance the quality of ultrasound residency training in local training centers. By 2025, over 40 sessions of the program have been delivered to an on-site audience of 20,000 – impacting young sonographers in almost every part of China.

With technological support from Mindray, the CUDA launched the "Xing Lin Program”, which is specifically focused on OB/GYN ultrasound education. This standardized OB/GYN ultrasound roadshow has toured across China, benefiting over 2,500 sonographers. It is designed to enhance scanning and diagnostic skills for grassroots OB/GYN sonographers and standardize ultrasound practices in grassroots medical institutions.
