Commitment to Achieving Net Zero
Mindray UK remains committed to the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap and PPN 06/21 requirements by achieving Net Zero emissions from Scope 1 and 2 by 2045 and Scope 3 missions by 2050.
By 2027, Mindray UK aims to expand its Scope 3 reporting to encompass all 17 categories as defined by the GHG Protocol.
This Carbon Reduction Plan summarises performance across Scopes 1, 2 and key Scope 3 categories, demonstrating year‑on‑year reductions and outlining future decarbonisation commitments.
Emissions Boundary, Methodology & Data
Sources
The reporting boundary is for all UK activities and upstream transport from manufacturer of outside UK.
Scope 1: Direct emissions from refrigerant leakage (HVAC).
Scope 2: Purchased electricity (market‑based).
Scope 3 (focused): Five required NHS Evergreen categories:
Upstream Transport, Waste (incl. EOL), Business Travel, Employee Commuting, Downstream Transport.
Data Sources:
Baseline emissions represent the recorded levels of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions produced prior to the implementation of any emission reduction strategies. They serve as a reference point against which future emissions reductions are measured.
Mindray UK established its Scope 1 and Scope 2 baseline emissions in 2022. In 2023, Scope 3 emissions were calculated for the first time, covering the five mandatory categories outlined in PPN 06/21. Mindray UK reports carbon emissions associated with global purchases and local activities.

Mindray UK commenced Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions reporting in 2022, the first full reporting year following the COVID-19 pandemic. This baseline provides a representative measure of the company’s emissions profile. The Scope 3 baseline for the five mandatory categories was established in 2023, utilizing a distance-based and location-based methodology, as well as the 2023 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) conversion factors. Where available, supplier-reported emissions data were incorporated to enhance accuracy. Emissions for all scopes have been calculated for the full calendar year, covering the period from January 1st to December 31st |

Emissions Reduction Targets
Scope 1 and 2
Mindray's organizational structure and asset management result in limited controllable emissions under Scope 1 and Scope 2. Emissions in these scopes can be further reduced by transitioning to a 100% renewable electricity tariff by 2030.
The increase in Scope 2 emissions in 2024 was attributed to the selection of an energy supplier with a low percentage of renewable energy in its fuel mix. Due to contractual obligations, the company remains committed to this supplier until the end of 2026.
Mindray UK is also looking into projects that would save energy consumption by raising awareness of the office-based employees (monitoring of lights and air conditioning, and looking into light replacement options).
To prevent similar occurrences in the future, corrective actions have been implemented, including the integration of sustainability assessments into supplier approval requirements.
Scope 3
Transport and business travel represent the largest contributors to our Scope 3 emissions. In 2025, several emission reduction initiatives were introduced to mitigate our carbon footprint.
Reductions compared to 2024 emissions explained:
Upstream Transportation (−26%)
Next‑step actions:
Business Travel (−29%)
Next‑step actions:
Employee Commuting (−17%):
Two key carbon reduction initiatives introduced in 2024—the strategic relocation of our UK warehouse and the increased use of sea freight—have resulted in a significant emissions reduction. The optimized logistics and improved distribution strategies are the supporting factors for Mindray carbon reduction management.
Mindray UK remains committed to implementing further sustainable logistics and operational efficiencies to drive continued emissions reductions.

Mindray UK remains committed to continuous environmental improvements as part of our long-term sustainability strategy.
Carbon Offsetting
Mindray UK, with the help of Carbon Footprint, has offset 335 tCO2e in 2022 and 2023 by supporting the building of renewable energy sources in developing countries. This number has not been deducted from the reporting.
We have decided to pause offsetting to invest in local action, which will allow us to address our emissions directly. We will review the need for offsetting on an annual basis.
