This educational day is for regional anaesthetists looking to improve their ultrasound scanning techniques for blocks for surgical procedures.
Refine your skills under the supervision of experts in the field while testing out the latest smart tools on advanced ultrasound equipment.
This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your technical skills and theoretical understanding of ultrasound imaging for regional anaesthesia. The session is only available in person so booking is essential. Consultants and trainees welcome.
This course is accredited by the Royal College of Anaesthetists for 6 CPD points.

Practical training for surgical blocks – hands-on workstations
Total Knee Replacement
- Genicular
- ACB - Adductor canal block
- IPACK - Infiltration between the Popliteal Artery and Capsule of the Knee
Total Hip Replacement
- LFCN - Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve
- PENG - pericapsular nerve group
- Suprainguinal FIB (fascia iliaca block)
Rib Fractures
- Serratus anterior (anterior fractures)
- ESP, PVB (lateral and posterior fractures)
Breast Surgery
- PECS blocks a.k.a. Interpectoral and pectora-serratus
- PVB - paravertebral block
Shoulder / Clavicle / Proximal Humerus
- Interscalene brachial plexus/superior trunk/superficial cervical plexus
- Suprascapular/axillary nerve
- Infraclavicular
Limb Trauma
1. Upper limb surgery below clavicle (or if wrist, elbow)
- Axillary brachial plus distal nerves (median, radial, ulnar)
- Popliteal block
- ACB
2. Lower limb surgery below knee (or if ankle, amputation)
Abdominal Surgery
- Interscalene brachial plexus/superior trunk/superficial cervical plexus
- Rectus sheath (above umbilical), TAP (below umbilical)
- Ilioinguinal nerve block (inguinal hernia)
