Happy Children’s Day 2023! We wish all children around the world a fun-filled day with families and friends.
The growth and development of children have always been at the forefront of societal concerns, encompassing various aspects such as nutrition, health, education, and overall wellbeing. On this Children’s Day, let us remind ourselves of our collective responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. We must ensure that every child has access to quality education, healthcare, and other essential services, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Mindray strives to offer innovative solutions to better care for children. Over the years, Mindray, together with other caretakers in society, has continuously invested in innovation to provide more comprehensive healthcare solutions for children around the world.
During children’s early development, changes in thyroid hormone can greatly impact the nervous system and bones. However, the reference range for thyroid-related testing in children is significantly different from that of adults. Therefore, it is crucial to establish an accurate reference range for children's testing.
Mindray is proud to be the first medical device company in China to establish a reference range for TSH, FT3, FT4, T3, and T4 using our Chemiluminescence Analysis Platforms, specifically designed for infants and children. This provides a better standard for laboratories to accurately interpret test results for segmented populations.
Developmental dysplasia of the hip, or DDH, is a common malformation in pediatric orthopedics. In China, the incident rate of infant DDH is 1.7% and the disability rate of DDL is high. While timely diagnosis and long-term follow-up can greatly improve the prognosis of treatment.
Graf scanning is the preferred method for early screening of DDH, but the accuracy of the diagnosis is highly related to doctors’ experience in reviewing the scanning images.
The Mindray Pediatric Ultrasound Solution “Smart Hip” for automatic measurement of pediatric hip joints, is designed to improve the efficiency of cross-sectional scanning and to offer guidance on diagnostic standards. The simple and efficient solution can help doctors improve efficiency and accuracy in DDG diagnosis, to better safeguard the health of newborns.
Newborns often have immature red blood cells known as NRBCs in their peripheral blood at birth, with elevated counts potentially indicating fetal hypoxia or early-onset neonatal sepsis, etc. Falsely high NRBC counts can lead to inaccurate white blood cell results and increased infant mortality rates, particularly in the first 2-5 days of life.
To address this issue, Mindray's BC-700 Series Hematology Analyzer utilizes fluorescent stain and SF cube analysis to directly measure NRBC counts in just 25ul of whole blood from children. This allows for routine CBC tests to provide a reportable NRBC count that automatically corrects WBC results. Moreover, the analyzer supports the auto-loading of capillary blood samples with microtainer tubes, making it an ideal solution for high-volume pediatric hospitals and laboratories.
Mindray continuously promotes targeted optimization on its products to improve diagnosis and treatment efficiency, accuracy, and friendliness of infants and children.
The “Neo” series bedside medical equipment monitors the changes in vital signs of newborns based on their body weight, heart rate, and blood oxygen. The product series is designed to the finest details to best adapt to the differences of newborns from adults.
Mindray’s neonatal dashboards on the ePM patient monitors, have provided Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother (QEQM) Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit with a safer, more efficient method of measuring oxygen saturation levels.
Oxygen saturation (SpO2) is one of the key parameters measured in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at QEQM, part of the East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust. So, when the unit began to see SpO2 data discrepancies in its older equipment, resulting in extended discharge times for its vulnerable patients, the Trust invested in eight Mindray ePM devices. With the new devices came Mindray’s specialised neonatal dashboards, which provided the unit with a safer, more efficient method of measuring oxygen saturation levels.
East Kent’s SCBU has fundamentally improved care for some of its most vulnerable patients, delivering babies back to their parents safer and faster than ever. The new system has helped the unit shorten the length of stay, increase data accuracy, and most importantly enhance patient safety.
Clinicians at SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital are now using Mindray M-Connect IT solution to integrate patient data and full medical records from any point of the hospital throughout a patient's hospital stay. This helps clinicians fully understand each patient's condition and improves diagnostic confidence.
In 2020, SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital's Cortex was set up as the hospital-wide clinical information hub. Behind the scenes, Mindray's M-Connect solution is integrating real-time vital signs monitoring by enabling data to flow between bedside monitors and electronic medical records. As information flows freely across the hospital, medical staff can work more efficiently and enhance the care and safety of patients.
Precision medicine means the right treatment is given to the right patient at the right time. The medical staff must be able to keep track of the patient's real-time state and make prompt and accurate predictions. This places greater demands on the information collection, storage, and management capabilities of the hospital's devices. The specialists look forward to further advancements in artificial intelligence technology so they can proactively offer timely, effective, and predictable monitoring for patients inside and outside of the hospital.
Socially caring for children is a shared responsibility of every member of society. On top of developing and offering innovative products and solutions, Mindray has been working to contribute to wider wellness for children.
By partnering with global non-profit organizations in various social welfare projects, our team invests and volunteers for campaigns to provide care and support for vulnerable children.
Children are the future of our world. With our collective efforts, we can create a brighter future for children and ultimately a more prosperous and healthy society
Wish all children around the world a Happy Children’s Day!
