Journey to Excellence of Chinese Non-Government Medical Institutions in the Post-Pandemic Era

1
When you walk in Tangshan Central Hospital, you won't associate it with the stereotype of private hospitals seen before. With the spacious and bright outpatient department, diversified consulting rooms with authoritative specialties, timely diagnosis and treatment processes, and high-standard facilities and devices, Tangshan Central Hospital is no different from a public grade-A tertiary hospital in a first-tier city in China. It is one of the smart hospitals that Mindray and a non-public medical group have committed themselves to build. China's non-public medical institutions will shoulder more national medical and health missions in constant pursuit of improving medical quality and management efficiency.

Non-public medical institutions are important healthcare forces fulfilling national health needs. In the U.S, Germany, and India, private medical institutions are mainstream. As to the UK and Australia, private medical groups are mainly active in the high-end market. Meanwhile, non-public medical institutions are still developing in China. Enhancing the brand effect to obtain more market share is the priority, which relies on improving the efficiency and quality of diagnosis and treatment while exercising excellent cost control.

The Quartet of Elevating Non-public Medical Institutions

The overall lack of healthcare resources worldwide and the uneven development of regional healthcare standards are cumulative problems. A public health emergency like the COVID-19 is only pushing the dire situation to a tipping point. In the post-pandemic era, topics of promoting the accelerated development of private medical institutions and encouraging the transition to smart hospitals are rising in China. At present, compared with the number of public medical institutions and the number of diagnoses and treatments offered, private medical institutions that have sprung up still have broad market growth prospects.

In order to meet the domestic medical needs, the Chinese government has imposed stricter supervision while encouraging the development of non-government medical institutions. However, unlike the high-end private medical system in the UK, with a vast range of potential customers in China, Chinese non-government medical institutions aim for scale and more diversified forms of medical partnerships.

Having accumulated rich experience collaborating with non-government medical clients, Mindray concludes a "full value chain empowerment solution" to help clients seize the trend of transformation of smart hospitals in the post-pandemic era.
