The latest addition to the hospital is a highly sophisticated ICU on Wheels Ambulance equipped with imported transport ventilators, defibrillators, and other gadgets.

Dr. Bidaris's team at Ashwini Hospital trusts Mindray SV300 ventilator for treating their neonatal patients. At Ashwini Hospital, Dr. Bidari and his neonatologist team have upgraded their existing SV300 ventilator for the respiratory care of their tiniest of patients.

About Mindray’s SV300 Ventilator

Respiratory support for neonates requires a delicate balance between over and under-assisted ventilation based on a neonate’s lungs. While deciding to upgrade the SV300 ventilator to neonatal patient capability, Dr. Bidari and his colleagues reviewed the neonatal features offered by SV300. Mindray SV300 offers various features that clinicians at Ashwini Hospital found beneficial in their practice. The invasive ventilation modes including a combination of conventional modes P-A/C, V-A/C, P-SIMV, V-SIMV, and advanced modes such as PRVC, APRV, CPAP/PSV, PRVCSIMV, and Duo-level were appreciated by the staffs. In addition to invasive ventilation capabilities, clinicians at Ashwini Hospital were impressed by Mindray’s complete package in non-invasive ventilation which included nCPAP, P-A/C, P-SIMV, APRV, DuoLevel, PSV, PSV-S/T, etc. O2 therapy which comes as a standard feature having a low flow range from 2-20LPM for neonatal patients is like an added advantage for certain patient conditions.

SV300- Thermal Type Proximal Flow Sensor Ventilator

Located at the Y-piece of the breathing circuit, a proximal flow sensor measures the breathing flow rate and the volume of breathing gas at the patient end to have a faster response time to observe any change in flow and volume, how small it might be which is
crucial for flow and volume monitoring in neonatal patients. Unlike distal flow sensors that have delays due to their position, the proximal location provides a very fast response and high sensitivity in flow measurements. Mindray SV300 offers a robust Thermal chip proximal flow sensor with high accuracy and a long-life span in comparison to typical hot-wire thermal flow sensors, which are more fragile in nature and can be influenced by condensation and rainouts; thereby increasing recurring costs. Mindray has both reusable and disposable-type sensors. The reusable thermal sensors are autoclavable to minimize ventilator cross-contamination and overall maintenance cost.

Dr. Laxmana H Bidari, Chief Medical Director at Ashwini Hospital in Bijapur, Karnataka, is driven by his dedication to healing tiny lives and bringing joy to suffering patients. Using the Mindray SV300 ventilator since April 2021, his neonatology team has saved patients with IBW as low as 3kgs through both invasive and non-invasive ventilation. Impressed with SV300's upgrades, he promptly upgraded his existing ventilator to include neonatal functions. His trust in SV300's performance led him to choose an upgrade over buying a new dedicated neonatal ventilator, ensuring precision and care for babies as small as 2ml.
