Beating the odds: A one-day-old neonate with congenital heart block
Patient
Male, 1 day old, 2.6 kg, 50 cm
Diagnosis
Baby confirmed with congenital heart block on fetal echo. Having a heart rate of 58 B/M during birth. ECHO shows small ASD, small PDA, dilated ascending aorta, poor ejection fraction.
Procedure
Despite his fragile condition, the cardiac team proceeded with permanent pacemaker implantation.
Ventilation
The A7 Anesthesia Machine enabled safe ventilation using PCV-VG mode, delivering a precise tidal volume of 18 mL while maintaining stable anesthesia throughout the procedure.
Post Op
The child demonstrated a good postoperative recovery, with notable improvement in ejection fraction.

Patient
Female, 9 day old, 2.2 kg, 50 cm
Birth History
Preterm baby [34 weeks], cried immediately after birth with APGAR score [7/10,8/10,9/10]. Developed respiratory distress, required intubation.
Diagnosis
D-TGA, 5 mm large non-restrictive PDA [BD shunt] ,6 mm OS- ASD, coronaries from facing sinus [1L-2CxR], sev PAH, INR- 2.30, CRP- 21.3.
Challenges faced postoperatively
Baby had multi drug resistant pneumonia.
Procedure
Aorto-bicaval cannulation → PDA ligation & clipping → Aorta/PA transection with coronary button harvesting → PA stump repair (pericardial patch) → Le Compte maneuver → Aortic anastomosis to neoaortic root with coronaries → MPA & branch PA anastomosis to neopulmonary stump → MUF & CUF performed.
Ventilation
Leveraging V-A/C mode with a set tidal volume of 16 mL, the A7 Anesthesia machine ensured stable and safe ventilation..

Triumph of 28 days old
Patient
Male, 28 day old, 1.8 kg, 63 cm
Diagnosis
Congenital heart disease – ECHO showed D-TGA, small ASD, large PDA, both coronaries arising from a single ostium (sinus 2: LCx + R) with intramural course, with normal neo-aortic and neo-pulmonary valves.
Ventilation
