Femal genital system pathology

Female genital tract lesions are as complex as they are vast. For the practicing surgical pathologist and cytopathologists, these diseases form the major bulk of the cases they deal with in their daily work.

The variety of tissues found in this system, with their different epithelial linings-which can transform themselves into other types, to keep things interesting; the specialized stromal elements; the germ cells that can conjure up a lesion that can mimic a tumor from anywhere in the body; and the abundance of connective tissue, ensures that no pathologist is left feeling bored.

A good knowledge of female genital tract lesions goes a long way in building a competent pathology practice. The Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists, Kerala Chapter, is organizing a webinar on "Female genital tract pathology", on the 12th and 13th of August, 2022.
