The 23rd Brazilian Congress of Intensive Care Medicine (CBMI 2018) has come to a successful end at the Transamerica Expo Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The 3-day intensive scientific program, organized by the Association of Brazilian Intensive Medicine (AMIB), took place from 29 November to 1 December, during when a series of pre-congress courses were joined by more than 3,000 participants, and presentation of many papers was given by around 260 speakers.

"The congress was a critical success. The foreign guests were absolutely fascinated with our event, highly praising the scientific quality, the presentations and the presenters," said Dr. Ciro Leite Mendes, president of AMIB.

The Fascinating Event for Intensive Medicine

CBMI serves as a significant medical communication platform where the industry leading experts in intensive medicine put forward the latest therapies and diagnostic methods for discussion, with the intent to bring a safer and more efficient medical workflow.

This year the congress sees Prof. Dr. Jean-Louis Vincent, immediate-past president of the World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine; Dr. Jerry Zimmerman, chair of the Society of Critical Care Medicine; Prof. Dr. Massimo Antonelli, president of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine; Prof. Dr. Anders Perner, president of  the Scandinavian Critical Care Trials Group;  Prof. Dr. Bin DU, president of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association in Intensive Care; and many other presidential professors, international KOLs and big names.

"The speakers were highly praised, with a great contribution made both by those who came from abroad and from Brazil. I believe we managed to make a very successful event. I have no doubt that we will do even better next year!" stated Dr. Flavia Machado, one of CBMI's presidents and the scientific director of AMIB.

Taking an active part in the congress, Mindray helped successfully organize a satellite symposium about mechanical ventilation on 29 November. One of the keynote speakers Prof. Dr. Marcelo Alcântara Holandra, creator and developer of XLung simulator software, shared his ideas on the topic ‘Asynchrony in Mechanical ventilation – How to avoid?’ with Mindray SV800 as an illustration of synchronized ventilation, raising great interest in the academic communities at the symposium.

The Showcase of Mindray’s Collective Wisdom

During the scientific programs, Mindray displayed the advanced ICU solution with the latest medical technologies to Brazilian critical care communities, such as BeneVision N22, the flagship beside patient monitor for critical care which supports landscape & portrait display modes, a full range of parameters and smooth IT connection. Other exhibits include the intelligent high-end ventilator SV800 and the four-in-one compact defibrillator BeneHeart D3.
